Claude usage resets

Check the headline "since last usage reset" and the first row of the table: if @ClaudeDevs announced a reset today, that row is dated today and links the post. No row for today means no announcement has been recorded here yet; collection or review may be delayed. Your own 5-hour limit and weekly limit still reset on their usual schedule, shown under Settings › Usage (claude.ai/settings/usage) or with /usage in Claude Code.

Open the original post on the record and check that the reset covers your plan. Then refresh: when /usage in Claude Code cannot fetch fresh data it shows bars up to an hour old with a "Showing last-known usage" note; press r to retry. Announced resets apply to subscribers; Claude Code signed in with an API key bills per token and has no plan allowance.

Open claude.ai/settings/usage (Settings › Usage) and use it from there. Anthropic first handed these out on September 22, 2026 with Opus 5.5: Pro, Max and Team subscribers each got one reset to use whenever they choose. It clears your usage only when you use it, so use up what you have left first. The announcement did not say when it expires or exactly which limits it clears; go by what your usage page shows.

No. Your account's 5-hour and weekly limits reset on their own schedule. This site only records the extra, officially announced one-off usage resets and the banked resets handed out. An announcement time is not your account's reset time.

The weekly limit resets every 7 days at a fixed time assigned to your account, and an announced reset does not move it: it is always the last reset plus 7 days. Settings › Usage on claude.ai and /usage in Claude Code show it. It is not Monday midnight and it does not follow your billing date. An announced reset from @ClaudeDevs is an extra clear on top of that schedule.

The 5-hour limit starts with your first message and resets 5 hours later; the next message after that starts a new 5 hours. Settings › Usage and /usage in Claude Code show the exact time. The 5-hour and weekly limits are separate: if only the 5-hour bar is full, waiting for it is enough and does not waste weekly allowance.

The 5-hour limit resets 5 hours after your first message; the weekly limit resets once a week at a fixed time, and both are counted at once, so whichever fills first stops you. Some official resets clear only the weekly limit (as the Max one did), and the record says so under “Applies to”.

On top of the weekly limit shared by all models, Claude meters one model separately, shown as an extra bar with the model’s name in /usage and Settings › Usage. Which model it is changes with your plan and with new releases, so go by what your panel says. When that bar is full you can keep working with other models until the shared weekly limit is also full.

Yes, when you sign in with a Claude subscription: Claude Code, the web app, desktop and mobile all draw from the same 5-hour and weekly allowance. Signing in with an API key bills per token instead and does not use that allowance.

Not yourself. There is no /limit-reset command in Claude Code; it reports it as unknown. /clear and /compact only trim the conversation context, which saves tokens but does not touch your limits. The only early clear is a reset Anthropic announces for everyone, which this site records and can alert you to. To see your limits, use /usage.

Three ways out: wait for the reset, upgrade your plan, or buy extra usage if your account offers it. If the full bar is a single model’s limit, switching models keeps you working. Starting a new conversation and /compact reduce what you use from here on, but they do not bring back usage already spent.

A limit notice names a reset time: Claude Code shows "You've hit your session limit · resets 3:45pm", and the web and apps show "5-hour limit reached". Errors, timeouts or "overloaded" messages with no time are an outage; check status.claude.com. An announced reset does nothing for an outage.
